One of the major benefits of fine gold jewelry is it won't develop a tarnished finish over time. However, the more you wear your men's gold chains, the more they will start to lose their luster. Your skin's natural oils, colognes, lotions and other elements can diminish the sheen of your gold chains. Fortunately, all your gold chains need is some TLC for them to sparkle and shine again and look brand new.

To clean men's gold chains all you need is a few household ingredients and tools. Here’s what you'll need:

  • Soft-bristle toothbrush
  • Dry soft cloth
  • Mild dish detergent
  • Small bowl
  • Warm water

Combine warm water with a few drops of the dish detergent in the small bowl. If your gold chain does not have any diamonds or gemstones, then you can submerge it into the solution and let it soak for 15 minutes. Then remove the chain from the solution and gently scrub it with the toothbrush to get rid of any excess dirt and grime. Rinse the chain in warm water to remove the soap and blot it dry with a dry soft cloth.

If your gold chain does contain gemstones, then you do not want to submerge it in the solution, as it could loosen some of the gemstones or trap water around the settings. Instead, dip the toothbrush in the soapy solution and gently scrub the chain to remove dirt and grime. Then dampen a soft cloth in warm water and gently wipe down the chain remove the soapy solution. Use another clean cloth to blot the chain dry.

This method is very effective for cleaning men's gold chains. Once you follow through with these steps, you'll notice that your gold chain has regained its luster and shine.
